An exciting September
SEPTEMBER was an exciting month. What with Ganesh Utsav and other celebrations, the month was packed with happiness, the happiest news being that we have started pre-construction preparations at our Asawali plot. Once the monsoon withdraws, we hope to plunge into the construction work in full swing. We are very keen to begin and complete this at the earliest, of course, with the encouragement and support of our well-wishers.
We began the month with a common birthday party for our September-born Friends (on September 1) and Teacher’s Day celebrations (on September 5). We also celebrated my birthday, at the Marunji campus, on September 16.
Our favourite Ganapati festival started with a bang, with the installation of Ganapati idols at both Marunji and Asawali units on September 10. On September 15, members of Bal Ganesh Mandal, Navkshitij, hosted a puri bhaji lunch to all the special friends and the staff members. It was an event initiated and executed by the Bal Mandal members, comprising the children of the staff members. We had Ganesh visarjan on September 16 and 19 respectively at Marunji and Asawali units.
Now that we have started opening our doors to visitors, board members of Maha NGO Federation visited Navkshitij for the special visarjan Ganesh Aarati, on September 16. A group of employees from Tata Motors visited the Marunji campus on September 24. Mr. Dasharath Kale, Tahsildar, Khandala Block, paid a surprise visit to the Asawali unit on September 27.
On September 12, there was a Vaccination Drive in which 27 persons received their second dose of vaccination. We express our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Shaila Tandon, mother of Resident Friend Rachit Tandon, who lent special support to this initiative. We had our Sports Day on September 15.
There were other special treats in store — a Veg Biryani party sponsored by the family members of Friend Yash Khillani (on September 14), and a special lunch for our Friends and staff sponsored by a well-wisher (on September 26).
Take care, stay safe.

Sensitising the next generation
WHEN it comes to the children of staff members of Navkshitij, their enthusiasm is infectious. Schools are closed due to the pandemic but our kids are having a lot of fun and learning at Navkshitij.
For Ganesh Utsav, with the help of Datta Mavale and Tirupati Kande, the children formed Bal Ganesh Mandal. The Mandal was launched with a donation drive. Mandalachi vargani jama karane, as they say in Marathi. The children collected a good sum from all the staff. They not only accepted cash but even donations in kind. It is noteworthy that the girls took the lead and the overall responsibility.
With no proper training or financial planning, the children planned to give a puri bhaji treat to all the special children and staff members at Navkshitij. Ms. Bhakti Munde and Ms. Shivani Mavale helped them achieve it. On the day of the treat, everyone worked tirelessly until all the special friends and staff members had eaten. The children actively participated in all the activities involved. They arranged the dishes and even served.
The sense of commitment, etiquette, ethical values, and feeling of equality was evident throughout. They learnt these from their parents, teachers, and neighbours. We can say that the second generation of Navkshitij is in the making.
